Easy Lettuce Wraps

Jake's Lettuce wraps: Serves 2-3 people

  • 8-10 ounces pork, chicken, or turkey
  • 1/2 onion sliced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced
  • soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Hoisin sauce
  • 1 head of lettuce

Optional:MushroomsGreen onionsWater ChesnutsChili pastechinese 5 spice

Start with your choice of meat. Sliced boneless chicken, pork, ground turkey, or pork. They all work good. 8-12 ounces. In a hot pan brown the meat and cook about halfway then add onion sliced thin, garlic minced , 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 T. soy sauce. Optional to add at this point: Mushrooms, green onions, water chesnuts, Chinese five spice, chili paste.

Cook in pan until veggies are cooked but not mushy or soft. Seperate 1 head of lettucce into individual leaves. I do this by first removing the core of the head of lettuce. I do this by giving the center core a good hit down on the counter holding the head in both hands. This loosens it and it should pop right out.

To serve: spread hoisin sauce inside of lettuce leaf and add a helping of the prepared mixture.
Serve with rice & cold beer
