The Birthday Test

A HUGE litmus test for me and relationships is my birthday(July 11th). I'm not sure of the roots of it but the act of receiving a gift from someone implies a time commitment. I can't rightly rake a birthday gift on the 11th and break up with her on the 14th. How long is a reasonable time to wait to end a relationship after receiving a gift?
